At the 2020 Safe Streets Summit, Hollywood Boulevard Complete Streets Project was selected as 2020 People’s Choice Award for Best “Urban” Complete Streets Demonstration project.
A showcase project for the City of Hollywood and Broward MPO, this Complete Streets project included completely reconstructing the roadway in order to continue to provide 4 lanes of thru traffic, 12-foot decorative sidewalks, 5- foot bike lanes and on-street parking. The project also included signal replacement and upgrade to mast arm, and lighting which accommodates the roadway as well as the pedestrian. A new system of French drains were installed to improve the existing drainage system. Coordination with the City of Hollywood and all business owners in the limits was a must during design as well as throughout construction. Additionally, a JPA with the City of Hollywood for the installation of a new watermain was included in the project.
