PROJECT FACTS
  • The City was awarded a grant for approximately $6.8 million with the condition that the design incorporates various elements of “Complete Streets”. For this project, MARLIN used a multimodal approach to roadway design – recommending improvements to create a livable community that is safe for biking, walking, and transit.

Improvements include:

  • New paving, striping and surface drainage configuration
  • New ornamental plantings along the corridor (trees, palms, flowering shrubs and groundcover). New pedestrian crosswalks with center refuge median and center walkway spline, including new pedestrian scale lighting, new colored concrete walks, safer parking configuration, new 5-ft wide bike lanes with buffer zone, and new American with Disabilities Act-compliant (ADA) parking spaces and accessible ways
  • 6 pedestrian actuated in-road lighting cross-walks

Design was performed by in-house FDOT District 4. MARLIN was requested to work in-house at FDOT to prepare the plans for the lighting, pavement markings and 6 pedestrian actuated in-road pedestrian crossings.

PROJECT FACTS
  • MARLIN provided design services to the Florida Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of NW 25th Street from NW 67th Avenue to NW 87th Avenue. Additionally, design services were provided for the construction of a new elevated viaduct from the Miami International Airport (MIA) West Cargo Area to NW 82nd Avenue. This project is considered a major Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) project with a final construction cost of over $210 million. The purpose of this project is to improve capacity and mobility of airport cargo traffic along the corridor. MARLIN is providing all post design services. NW 25th Street was widened from an existing five lane undivided configuration to a six lane divided roadway with the viaduct running along the median. The major stakeholders in this project are the Miami-Dade County Public Works Department, Miami-Dade County Aviation Department, Miami-Dade Environmental Resources Management and the Florida Department of Transportation.
